Zipped Water Technology

At Zipped Water Technology, we specialize in advanced water treatment solutions, with a strong focus on reverse osmosis (RO), ultrafiltration (UF), and cutting-edge water filtration technologies. Our mission is to empower industries with innovative, sustainable, and high-performance filtration systems that meet evolving operational and environmental demands.

We are committed to the continuous development of specialized chemistries, including silica removers and other performance-enhancing additives, designed to optimize system efficiency, protect membrane life, and reduce operational costs.

However, innovation is not pursued in isolation. We engage closely with our clients to understand their most pressing challenges—whether related to scaling, fouling, or complex feedwater conditions—and provide customized, results-driven solutions. This may involve enhancing an existing formula or designing a completely new solution that integrates seamlessly with your existing infrastructure.

Through a combination of technical expertise, responsive service, and a deep understanding of membrane technology, we help our partners improve production output, reduce downtime, and advance their sustainability goals.

This is more than chemistry—it's chemistry, connected.

Corporate Story

From One Engineer’s Decision to a Company’s Mission in Water Treatment

Before establishing ZWT, Raymond Pratt built his professional experience within the Dow Chemical environment, where he was exposed to water treatment, membrane separation, and industrial chemical applications. Through that experience, he saw how technologies such as reverse osmosis, ultrafiltration, and nanofiltration could transform municipal water supply, industrial process water, wastewater reuse, and high-purity water production.

But he also learned something equally important: a successful water treatment solution is never just a membrane, a piece of equipment, or a chemical product. It is a complete understanding of water quality, operating conditions, system behavior, and the long-term pressures customers face every day.

Large-scale chemical industry experience gave Raymond a deep respect for technology. Field experience gave him a deeper understanding of customers’ real challenges. Many customers did not simply need another product. They needed a partner who could connect technology, chemistry, engineering, and service into one practical solution. Water systems often struggle with scaling, corrosion, fouling, unstable recovery rates, rising operating costs, and unexpected downtime. In many cases, the problem is not caused by one product alone, but by the lack of an integrated approach across water chemistry, system design, operation, and maintenance.

That insight led Raymond Pratt to leave Dow Chemical and establish Zipped Water Technology Corporation in Canada. His vision was to build a company that would be more flexible, closer to real operating sites, and more focused on long-term performance. The founding belief behind ZWT was clear: complex water treatment technologies should be translated into solutions that customers can trust, operate, maintain, and measure.

In its early years, Raymond and his team began with projects in Canada. Canada’s vast geography, demanding climate, and diverse industrial base created real-world challenges for water treatment. From municipal water facilities to industrial circulation systems, from food and beverage production to remote water supply needs, every project required the team to go beyond laboratory data and understand actual feedwater conditions and operating environments.

In Canadian municipal and water plant upgrade projects, the team encountered challenges such as seasonal changes in raw water quality, membrane performance variations under low-temperature conditions, and compatibility issues when upgrading aging infrastructure. Raymond insisted that every solution begin with water analysis and a full review of pretreatment, membrane selection, operating pressure, cleaning cycles, and chemical formulation. The goal was not simply to make the system run. The goal was to make it run reliably over time, reduce the burden on operators, and deliver consistent water quality.

In industrial projects, ZWT gradually developed its own working method: understand the customer’s production goal before recommending a treatment product; evaluate long-term operating cost before focusing on unit price; and solve the system problem rather than only treating the surface symptom. In sectors such as power, municipal utilities, metallurgy, petrochemicals, coal chemicals, paper, food, and pharmaceuticals, water treatment can directly affect productivity, compliance, and operational safety. ZWT’s public profile also emphasizes its role in helping multiple industries address feedwater, wastewater, and sewage treatment challenges.

As project experience accumulated, ZWT evolved from a product supplier into a full-cycle water treatment service provider. Today, the company provides membrane technologies including reverse osmosis, ultrafiltration, nanofiltration, and desalination, while also developing solutions for corrosion inhibition, deposit control, water purification, membrane protection, and system optimization. ZWT also focuses on specialized chemistries, including silica removers and other performance-enhancing additives, designed to improve system efficiency, protect membrane life, and reduce operating costs.

Raymond Pratt’s vision for ZWT has always been grounded in results. Customers do not simply need a technical brochure. They need less downtime, more stable water quality, longer membrane life, lower maintenance cost, and a technical team that can respond when problems occur. For this reason, ZWT integrates customized solution design, product selection, installation, commissioning, consumable replacement, scheduled maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency response into its service model. The company’s public materials also highlight full-cycle operation and maintenance support, customized solutions, and responsive technical service.

From its Canadian foundation, ZWT has expanded its vision toward a broader market. Guided by customer needs and driven by technological innovation, the company combines membrane technology, specialized chemistry, engineering experience, and strategic partnerships to deliver practical water treatment solutions across different industries and regions. For ZWT, water treatment is not a one-time equipment transaction. It is a long-term responsibility: helping customers improve productivity, increase profitability, and operate safely, compliantly, and sustainably.

The story of Zipped Water Technology Corporation is, at its heart, the story of an engineer who moved from a global chemical company into the realities of entrepreneurship and field service. It is also the story of a company that turned technical experience into customer value. Raymond Pratt brought his professional perspective from Dow Chemical into ZWT, and through real projects in Canada, he confirmed a simple but powerful belief: a great water treatment company must understand both technology and the field; it must provide both products and accountability; and it must care about both today’s operating efficiency and tomorrow’s resource protection.

Today, Zipped Water Technology Corporation continues to follow the principle of respecting nature and protecting resources. Through advanced membrane technologies, specialized chemistries, and responsive service, ZWT supports customers in municipal, industrial, food, pharmaceutical, energy, and environmental sectors with reliable and sustainable water treatment solutions.

Starting with every drop of water, ZWT connects industry, environment, and the future.
